Early Years
Early childhood is the foundation on which children build the rest of their lives. At Putnoe Primary School, we greatly value the importance that the EYFS plays in laying secure foundations for future learning and development. It is important to view the EYFS as preparation for life and not simply preparation for the next stage of education.
We provide a broad and balanced curriculum that will enable each child to develop personally, socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically, creatively and intellectually to their full potential. Each child is valued as an individual and teaching and learning is based on the understanding that children develop at different rates.
Please find at the bottom of this page a document called 'What to expect in the Early Years Foundation Stage - A guide for parents'. This outlines information for each phase of development aligned with each area of learning and also shares ideas on how you can support your child at home. Here are some key pages that may be of particular use:
-
Pages 27- 49 Birth to Three aged children
-
Pages 50 - 69 for Nursery aged children
-
Pages 70 - 88 for Reception aged children

Getting Ready for School
The following video contains some extremely useful information to explain how to get ready for the foundation stage. It can be watched in many languages and these can be access by clicking on the backwards and forwards buttons (that look like |< or >|) after you have pressed play.
Tiny Happy People is a website dedicated to developing your child's language skills. There are lots of activities and play ideas for all ages as well as lot of information and advice to support your child's development. Their website can be accessed by clicking here.
At Putnoe Primary School, we use Seesaw as online platform to provide opportunities for parents and carers to share in their child’s learning experiences and to support with and celebrate in their learning. This app enables families to contact EYFS staff and share activities and adventures from home! More information about this app can be found by clicking on the image below.
